Sides: Actor Line Rehearsal is designed to keep your rehearsal work on your device. You do not need an account to use Sides, and Sides does not include advertising, tracking, analytics, or telemetry.

Your scripts and rehearsals
Scripts and PDFs you import, the structured script library Sides creates, your character and voice choices, generated cue audio, microphone recordings, live Speech Recognition text, and post-rehearsal report text stay on your device. Sides does not upload this content to us or to Hugging Face. Temporary rehearsal recordings are used only to create an on-device report. They are deleted after a report is completed or cancelled, when you leave the completed rehearsal screen, or the next time Sides launches after an interrupted session.
You can rename or delete scripts and remove the downloaded Voice Engine and generated Line Recognition data from within Sides. The Rehearsal Analysis Engine is included with the app and is removed when you delete Sides. Deleting Sides also removes data stored in its app container, subject to the normal behavior of iOS backups and device management.

Microphone and Speech Recognition
Sides asks for microphone and Apple Speech Recognition access when you choose to prepare a rehearsal. It uses the microphone to listen while you speak your lines and uses Apple’s on-device Speech Recognition technology for live line matching. iOS may download and manage a Speech Recognition language asset needed for this feature. Apple governs its handling of Speech Recognition and related system-managed asset requests. You can change either permission in iOS Settings. Model downloads
Sides downloads Voice Engine files from Hugging Face so other characters’ lines can be spoken on your device. The Rehearsal Analysis Engine is included with Sides and does not require a separate network request. Voice Engine requests identify the files Sides needs; they do not contain your scripts, PDFs, synthesized text, recordings, audio, live transcripts, or report transcripts.
Hugging Face states that its services may automatically record information such as an IP address, session date and location, and device or browser information. It also counts model downloads from HTTP requests. Public Hugging Face documentation does not state the exact data fields and retention path for every unauthenticated Hub, redirect, and content-delivery request Sides makes. We therefore treat technical request data conservatively as diagnostic data used to provide model downloads, linked to a user where an IP address or equivalent personal information is retained, and not used by Sides for tracking.

Data sharing and sale
We do not sell your personal information. Sides does not share your rehearsal content with us, advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers. The limited technical request data described above goes to Hugging Face and its delivery providers only when Sides checks for or downloads Voice Engine files. iOS may also contact Apple to download or manage Speech Recognition assets, and Apple controls the data associated with those system requests.

Retention
Sides keeps your private library and downloaded Voice Engine files on your device until you remove them or delete the app. The included Rehearsal Analysis Engine remains with the installed app. Temporary recordings are deleted after a report is completed or cancelled, when you leave the completed rehearsal screen, or the next time Sides launches after an interrupted session. We do not run a server that stores Sides accounts or rehearsal content.

Hugging Face controls retention of technical data generated by model-file requests. Its public documentation describes 90-day retention for some content-delivery usage metering, but it does not give endpoint-specific retention for every request Sides makes. Children's privacy
Sides is not designed to collect personal information from children. Because Sides has no account or app analytics, we do not knowingly receive a child's rehearsal content. Voice Engine requests and Apple’s system-managed Speech Recognition asset requests can still create the limited technical data described above.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Sides changes or when we learn more about a service provider's practices. We will update the effective date on this page when we do.
